Finally was able to get my hands on the D03 Dapper Single pocket through a 3rd party website since they discontinued it. I got the D03 3 pocket bifold in black to swap out the dtex single pocket. I also replaced the black silicone band with the grey one, added the quick release tether, the pen slot card with a penco draft pen and lastly the notebook. This is one of many Dango wallets I have, definitely might have become a problem. It may be my last one until they drop so more heat again 😅.
This wallet is honestly pretty cool. It so far has lasted me about 5 years (more or less), and treated me well through the entire time.
I can fit 5 normal-sized cards in the slidey bit, and plenty of cash in the section with the window. The little pocket in the back is good for two or three cards, but it starts to stretch out the material if you keep that many in there for too long, so I would really recommend just one that you need to get fast, like a keycard, as it's perfect for that. One thing on the card holder, though, is that very thin cards can/will get stuck in there, as they aren't strong enough to force open the metal, or simply slide under the arms and get stuck, so beware of that.
It fits in my pocket perfectly, is nice and compact, and really just feels nice in the hand when you have it full of stuff.
On to the durability of it, I have had no problem with the card holder section on the inside of the wallet, it keeps the cards safe, and not a single time have they ever fallen out, so if you are worried about that, don't be; it works great. The metal bits holding the cards in also haven't bent at all, so kudos on the durability there, and same with all the other metal bits on the wallet: they all have held up wonderfully.
The rest of the fabric has begun to show its age, though. I personally bought the DTEX version, and within the first couple of months, the rubber seals that line the edges of the fabric to keep it from fraying started to peel off. Some are still on, but not all, and that's not great that it started to deteriorate so fast. The synthetic part bonded to the fabric, especially at the hinge, has also not fared the greatest (as seen in the photos). The base fabric is peeking through, and the edges are beginning to fray.
Other than the physical wear on the fabric, which is all just from taking it in and out of my pockets, the stitching has not snapped or come undone a single time, so that is really good.
Basically, overall, this wallet will last you a while, but will most certainly wear and get ugly after a bit. I think I'll manage another year or so out of this one before the fabric at the hinge starts to tear, or all the DTEX material starts to peel off. I certainly know I will be purchasing another once this one craps out.
If you're looking to get one of these, I would still totally recommend: you'll get a few great years out of it; just get it on sale, I don't think its worth the full $80 for something that starts to fall apart within months, and only lasts a few years before taking heavy wear from just being in your pocket.
Honestly, a solid 5 stars. Just be aware of how long these things last. Great construction, awesome design, and simply fun to use.
(Oh, and last thing, the little stretchy money strap on the inside is practically useless. I tried it, and money would just fall out. Totally a gimmick, so just keep cash in the inside pocket with the little window. You can also keep a small tightly folded bill of higher value in the front pocket, as it's kinda perfect for just one hidden in there.)
Going to a more minimalistic wallet motivated me to clean out all the junk I had in my old wallet that I didn't even need. This works out really well for me. I'm very happy with the purchase and quality.
So far so good. Enjoy the security the changed strap does. Even though there are signs of wearing, it’s still doing a solid for holding the shape and the contents secured. It’s slim enough to give more space in the pockets as well as looks simple yet amazing.
I really like the D03 Dapper I have the D03 in whiskey and bought the black during the recent sale.
I slid a money clip I had into the opening on the back of the wallet. I would really like to see Dango make a money clip that attaches with screws, similar to the A10 clip.
The pocket clips do not work for me, as the bills stick out from the side and just looks silly.
It is an excellent and highly functional wallet.
The quality is impeccable—it's crafted with great precision and durability. What pleases me the most is that it's made in the USA. I live in the United States, and I support only American manufacturers. For me, price doesn't matter as much as quality.
When I contacted this company, I realized it was exactly the kind of business I had been looking for—a place where I could buy different types of wallets and much more.
Sincerely,
Andrei Galitcin
I was looking for a new wallet for a reasonable price for the longest time and I saw a dango ad one day and had to check it out. Been about a month since I had it and have zero regrets buying it. Best wallet I ever had!😁
It's nice wallet, excellent quality. The only issue I have with it is they sent me the wrong color. I ordered black but they sent me brown. Not worth the hassle of returning it.
Love the D03 wallet. I’ve modified the frame by opening up both slots for lanyard attachment so I can use the extra thick wallet band accessory in addition to the included elastic band.
I use this as my backup wallet and to travel with so I don’t have to worry about losing my multi-tool (on my adapt wallet) at TSA! It does a great job of carrying just the essentials and looking great at the same time!
I ordered a Dapper Bifold 03, a two pack of RFID blocking cards and a Pocket Clip XL about a month ago from Dango. Unfortunately, they sent me the wrong wallet so I fired off an email to customer service. In less than an hour I received an apologetic response, a RMA label, and they sent me a new wallet. Four days later the D03 arrived! It's very classy, seems to be built for longevity, and though it will hold a lot, it helped me take stock of what I really needed, thereby drastically reducing the bulk and weight of what I carry around with me. Thank you Dango for a superb product and first class customer service.
Wasn’t sure about this wallet at first but once I got everything situated it was a different story. Love the Whiskey color leather, also the hybrid of a traditional bifold and machined aluminum gives it that custom modern look. Looking to possibly purchase one of the other wallet variants in the future.
